Grzegorz Pasiut: We want to be Polish champions

Eight Comarch Cracovia players are back in training and in great moods after having got through with the Poland national team to 2018 Winter Olympics qualifications round! Grzegorz Pasiut, who has won international caps in Budapest, talks about the Olympics pre-qualifications tournament and playoffs.

- Congratulations on winning the tournament in Budapest!

- Thank you. For some time now our national team have been doing really well and I think we managed to prove to everyone we can compete even with difficult rivals. At times we missed luck or experience, but the last couple of games showed that we are a strong team. We are very happy about that.

- You managed to get back at Hungary national team after having lost to them during the 2015 World Championship in Cracow.

- It wasnt so much about getting back at them, we just wanted to win the game. The fact that the arena was full of supporters from Hungary motivated us even more. Maybe there was a bit of an overtone to the game, but we focused on a new goal, which fortunately we managed to achieve.

- That was a difficult time for the Polish-Hungarian friendship. The final outcome was uncertain till the very end!

- That was a hard fought match. Both teams had their chances, but it was us who managed to win after a penalty shootout and get through to the next round. We fulfilled our plans.

- Now youre back at the club and you can focus on the next goal i.e. playoffs.

- Yes, after having returned to Cracow, we are only thinking about the playoffs. We are preparing for the games against Orlik Opole and we know what our goal is. We want to be Polish champions.
